Philanthropy time!

My sorority has our Wiffleball tournament coming up and I'm coaching one of the teams. Obviously I had to deck out my handy whistle! I also made my fellow co-coaches their own whistles/horns.

Dorm Crafts

I had a very crafty dorm room last year and most of the supplies were recycled by my use! #gogreen

Handmade Cards

I can't find the picture that I took of the wedding card, but here's the DIY envelope (since I didn't have one that fit the card) and a baby card that I made for my cousins this summer (different cousins! haha!)

Canvas decor: How to!

Handmade dorm/room decor
Some pinterest inspired, others I made up!

 Typewriter-inspired alphabet
1. Print the alphabet/numbers on off-white cardstock
(leave enough room in between each letter to cut circles)
2. Cut each letter out in a circle
3. Using a circular stamp of some sort that is smaller than the cirlce you cut the letters onto (I used the edge of a dixie cup), dip the stencil in black or dark brown paint and stamp inside the circle, around the edges. (no need to be precise here!)
4. Paint the canvas with black or dark brown paint
5. After paint has dried, glue the cardstock down onto the canvas in any pattern (like mine, the alphabet followed by numbers).
6. Modpodge the whle canvas and let dry.

Crayon art
1. Draw a cirle lightly in the middle of a canvas board
2. Cut off the non-pointed ends of each crayon you want to use (for size, just cut until the paper around the crayon begins)
*I highly suggest measuring how many you will need/what spacing around the circle you would like*
3. Hot glue (QUICKLY!) the pieces around the circle, 3-4 at a time
4. Use a hair dryer (start on hot and low settings and continue to increase power if needed) and melt the crayons going outward toward the edges of the canvas
5.Ccontinue with all colors until cirlce is complete

Magazine creation
1. Rip pieces of magazine out into smaller pieces with no specific shape
*I would use pieces that have intricate patterns on them*
2. Modpodge all the magazine pieces onto the canvas in collage-format
3. Print out and cut (or cut out a hand-drawn stencil) a shape/form and place on the canvas
*place it over the patterns that you want visible!*
4. Holding the stencil straight, paint over the whole canvas with one color
5. OPTIONAL: Use sandpaper to give the piece a more vintage look!

Heart of words
*Sorry it's hard to see in the picture!*
1. Draw a heart (or any other) shape lightly in pencil on the canvas
2. Buy and place lettering embellishments (I found mine in the scrapbooking aisle at Michael's craft stores)
3. Paint over the letters and the entire canvas in a single color (I chose white).
